Is there a way I can make sure when I backup my data it does not c reate a bunch of new files, but writes over the old?

When you do a Quicken backup, make sure the 'ENSURE DATE IS ADDED TO FILE NAME" box is unchecked; that should do it, I think. (That's the way it used to work in the old days before they added that option, and many of us asked to keep the file names different to AVOID writing over the existing one - of course, that's your call to make...at least they kept an option to make it work the 'old' way, I hope.)
Try it and report back.
