Is there a way to make the backup automatic in Q2006 - at the end of each session with NO human intervention? Perhaps Q wants me to feel grateful every time I see the backup screen. I use a 2nd physical drive on my pc which in turn is copied to an external drive once a week. Perhaps I could/should turn off the backup in Q and just rely on my backup routine.

What happens if you set the backup to 0 times and do not check 'warn' override? Does 0 times mean ALWAYs or NEVER? Give it a shot....
I set it to backup after every (1) use. And the backup file is located on a flash drive. It works very well.
I set to zero and the result is NO activity - other than remove the nag screen. I wanted to remove my effort and go for some slight automation and had hoped I had just overlooked a setting somewhere. Just 3 months of one checking account and NOTHING else requires 500k plus. To back up to a floppy on A: is plain mindless IMHO. Why not go all out and do a paper backup. joe

Good point that not 'everyone' may be aware of. Q has save last 5 as default. Who am I to question that. On the other hand since Q ver 5 1995? to 06 I never had to use my backup files - which is pure luck since I have experienced both MB and HD failures more than once. Sorry if I question some of the things in Q. joe
I have set Quicken to back up to a file that I call "bup 2006-03-19". Every week I change that, so I will have weekly backups since, well you get my drift. This is on the main drive in this computer.
In addition I use Karen's Replicator to back up the working file(s) (using a wildcard that encompasses all files) to a different drive. I used to use a network attached drive (Buffalo Link Station). However, when that one blew (again), I decided to take my losses, and used a hammer on the disks in the hard drive, then discarded everything. I will not buy anything Buffalo again (YMMV).
Replicator can be found here as freeware, although I supported karen by buying her CD with more software.
I think it works similar to xcopy in collaboration with scheduler, but I'm not too swift and all those switches are too complicated for me. Anyway, Karen backs up my files at 2 AM to another drive, and I just have to go and clean up by deleting files and folders every month or so. Luckily I have seldom had need to resurrect a backup, althoug the few times I did, things worked like a charm.
Just a reminder, Karen will not backup files that are in use, so the "Fail" messages she sends are most likely that, files in use, like log files in Eudora.
