Backup vs Copy on New Machine

It might be best if you could validate a copy on the old machine first. I use shortcuts to the relevant qdf file to start quicken. Thereby you can use multiple quicken data sets easily, without loading one data set, then switching and loading aanother one.

That is basically what I did when I got a new machine last year. I copied the entire quicken data folder including backup folder to the new computer and opened the file from there. No problems. I have also copied the current files back to the old laptop because I wanted to switch what machine I was using for Quicken.

I have copied the files over the network as well as used a USB flash drive. Made no difference.
