Can I update a Q 2007 file to Q 2011 directly?

The current HOA treasurer keeps our records in Q 2007. I have Q 2007, Q 2010, and Q 2011 disks.

I see four choices and wondered what I am going to run into :

-Best-Quicken will do a conversion from 2007 directly to 2011.

-Second Best-Quicken will do a conversion from 2007 to 2010 and then I can convert to 2011

-Third Best- I have heard that Quicken offers a conversion tool or demo service for older year situations like this but I don't know anything about it.

-Worst- I keep a version of Q 2007 loaded on an old laptop until I can get an intermediate copy (or uncover my 2009 disk).

Just wondered if anyone knew how far back you can go to do these conversions.

Thanks

Jan

Not a conversion tool; just free, temporary, older intermediate versions of Quicken to allow you to make the conversion in multiple steps.

Shouldn't be necessary in your case, but here's the kb article:

I don't think you should have any problem converting from Q2007 to Q2011.

And if you do have a problem, I don't think it will be because Q2007 is too old to be converted by Q2011.

I would try to have a Validated Copy of the Q2007 data available to convert, in addition to the unValidated Q2007 data. I believe some conversion problems are caused by bad data in the older version file; it can be convenient to be able to choose to convert from the unValidated or Validated file without having to install/re-install an older version.

Latest news is that the current treasurer is using a MAC. I will have to download and upload anyway. Oh well, nobody said it was easy.
