Can .NET Cause Temporary Slowdown?

I have had no problems running Quicken 2007 until last week when I opened the database file I use to maintain finances for the PTO at my daughter's school. The last time I opened that database was about 6 weeks earlier.

Quicken ran very slowly for about five minutes when I first opened the file, then it behaved normally. My DH has a programming/IT background and he said he thought it could be because .NET needs to run/install when a new database is opened and that .NET runs separately for each database loaded.

I had to upgrade to .NET 3 to use Calendar Printer for Office 07, and did this early in December. Perhaps the new version had to load for that database??? I'm only guessing based on DH's speculation. I really have no clue.

Can anyone here confirm this, or give a definitive answer on why this happened?

Thanks, Shelley
