Can't Copy & Paste an Investment Transaction

I am using Q 2010 R10. In my IRA mutual Fund account I want to duplicate a transaction made last month. This was for a portion of my RMD. While in the register for the account I can select and copy the transaction I want to duplicate. If I go to a blank line in the register and right click Paste is grey and not active. If I go to Edit, Paste is also grey here. If I go to Edit > Transactions, Paste is grey here. If I am doing something wrong I am not aware what that maybe. Thanks for any and all help.

Assuming you're using Windows, have you tried the Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v functions?

Thanks for your reply. I just tried Ctrl C and Ctrl V. The same result. What I also notice is when I do a copy in a banking account I get a cash register kerching sound. I do not get this when I do a copy in an Investment account. I assume from this that the Copy is never being done.

I have no idea whether this may work: Memorize the transaction, then enter the memorized transaction

Hi, trvlnmny.

Is it a Memorized Investment Transaction? Quicken treats Investment Accounts differently from Banking Accounts in several ways - and this is one of them.

One quirk is that a pasted transaction may seem to disappear immediately - until we remember that the Paste includes the original date, so we scroll to the original date and find both the original and the Pasted transaction there. Edit the date and the transaction moves to its rightful place.

It is not a memorized transaction.

Have you tried to Copy & Paste, elsewhere?

If "Paste" is greyed-out, it could be that you never actually copied anything into Windows' Clipboard.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried rebooting?

I just tried a type of copy and paste in a brokerage account. It worked fine, at least it seemed - I canceled the paste because I didn't want to mess up my data. But there are some peculiarities:

I choose a purchase transaction for this test, which included a cash transfer from another account. Clicking Edit and copy does NOT work. You have to rightclick the transaction and choose copy. Then I moved the cursor to a new, empty register line. Again, clicking Edit does not offer a paste action. But rightclicking and choosing paste opens a new transaction window with all of the old info in it. Indeed, one would have to make sure the date field gets new data!
