Improve handling of hidden accounts in dropdown lists and selection dialogs

I respect the user who created the above discussion, and I agree that there could be some improvement to Quicken's treatment of hidden accounts (and hidden account-categories).

But the above discussion actually misstates (albeit, likely unintentionally) the Quicken hidden account situation. The misstatement does not become clear until later in the original post, when the op says, "Make the Show hidden accounts checkbox [for "Investing Portfolio and Performance pages"] show and hide accounts that are marked Hidden, not Separate".

The problem with that statement/desire is that there is no simple "hide account" option in Quicken - and the original poster does not want to use "Keep this account separate ....", which does accomplish the op's desire.

The choices on the Display Options tab of the Edit Account Details dialog for Quicken accounts are these:

- Keep this account separate ....

- Hide in transaction lists

- Hide account name in Account List and Account Bar

The problem with the op's request (as stated) is that, if you eliminate the option to "Keep this account separate" from "solving" the op's problem (as the op wishes), there is NO simple "Hide account" option currently available.

One of the remaining options specifically says it will [only] hide accounts in "transaction lists" (see the dropdown in the Account column in the Quicken "All Transactions" pseudo-register, or the "From account" dropdown in the Add Bill Reminder dialog, for examples of an account "transaction list"). There is no "transaction list" in Investing > Portfolio or Investing > Performance (there are basically no "transactions" for which accounts could be selected in either of those two displays).

The only other option available is to "Hide account name in Account List and Account Bar". Neither of those two locations have anything to do with the tab listing accounts in Investing > Portfolio or the dropdown listing accounts in Investing > Performance.

I have no objection to asking Quicken to provide a straight forward method to hide accounts in the places the op wants; I just do not believe either of the existing two non-keep-this-account-separate options should be retrofitted to accomplish the task. I think one, or more, additional "hide" options should be made available for the original poster's purpose.

[For my personal use (so far), I have not had any problem employing the "Keep this account separate ...." option when I want accounts hidden elsewhere than "transaction lists". or the Account List and Account Bar]
