Searching (Find) within a SINGLE Investment Account

The original poster asks the question: "Is there any way to limit your Searches (Finds) to a single account ....".

The question indicates how some users self-limit their ability to achieve their ends.

As the original post implies (and additional posts in the discussion confirm), the original poster's desire limits his ability to achieve his ends.

While it might be useful to limit a SEARCH to a single account, it is hardly necessary to achieve the op's result. And the op's desired result is to mass-change transactions in only one Quicken account ... something that is just as easy to do using existing Quicken capabilities, as it would be if Quicken added the specific capability the user appears to think is necessary.

One poster in the above discussion (q_lurker) has already provided one method (utilizing the Quicken Banking > Transaction report) to achieve the op's desire by using existing Quicken capabilities.

But there is also another way to achieve the same end result ... without requiring any change to Quicken.

Open the Quicken "All Transactions" pseudo-register.

- In that All Transactions register, using the "Accounts" dropdown, select the (investment) account whose transactions are to be modified

- Select any other "Filter" values that are applicable (such as: Dates, Transaction Types, Cleared Status)

- Key the selection Text in the "Search" box at the left end of, and just above, the register heading row, and press Enter

- Select the resulting "found" transactions as you would select multiple files in Windows Explorer

- Right-click a found transaction and choose "Edit Transactions"

- Make sure "Select All" (or the specific transactions to be modified) is selected

- Select the appropriate column to be modified, in the "Replace" dropdown (Category, for the op in the above discussion)

- Key, or select, the appropriate value in the "With" dropdown field to replace the existing value in the Replace field

- Click Replace All

- Click Done

The bottom line: Initial assumptions can be misleading.
