Frankly, I would prefer to never have a Quicken linked checking account - and I do not have any. And I have no knowledge about the Canadian version of Quicken.Having said that: for the U.S. version of Quicken, I know of only one user need that requires a linked checking account for an investment account: the ability to Schedule (create Reminders for) ALL the transaction types that can be scheduled for checking accounts (example: repeating online payments).
