Creating a Budget in Q2012

Had I known how bad the new Quicken budgeting features are in Q2012, I never would have upgraded.

In past years, going back to the mid 1990s, I've always created a current year budget based on last year's actual monthly data. If there is a way to do that in the new budget interface, can someone please let me know how.

Also, in my new budget, although it shows income items in the planning tab, when I use Quicken's budget analysis report which compares actual to budget, it doesn't pick up any budgeted income items.

I will appreciate any thoughts and suggestions.

John

Just like you, I bought 2012, upgraded and saw the budget ugly face. Uninstalled it, trashed the CD and reverted back to 2011, which I fortunately backed up before. The "new budget" was the highlight of Q2012. What a failure. It's nonsense.

You can still create multiple budgets. But Quicken 2012's budget is a "running" budget, rather than one dedicated to an individual year. Some things I miss about the old budget, but the new one works just as well, though differently. Personally I was happy with the old budget (though the interface did need an update), but this new running budget was implemented after years of requests by many users for a running budget. IMNSHO, Quicken's budget is the best budget software our there. I do wish it were possible to print and/or export the budget to CSV format.

Margaret
