Disaster: harddrive and BU lost

So, my laptop's hard drive died last week in New Orleans. (What I get for computing outside when there's pollen around). I was able to put in a new hard drive, and then used the OEM Windows XP recovery disks to format the drive.

Unfortunately, the process formatted my backup external USB drive (which I had stupidly left plugged in), and not the internal drive. By the time I had realized it, the data was gone.

Fortunately, I was able to fnd some software

that did an excellent job of recovering most of my data.

Unfortunately, it was not able to find any Quicken files saved since January '04.

Fortunately, I was able to download 18 months of transactions from most of my banks.

Unfortunately, several of them were only able to provide data in the QIF format.

I have Quicken 2003 on a CD, and have re-downloaded Quicken 2005. I do not have Quicken 2004, and I don't think I can get a copy from Intuit.

So, what are my best options for trying to recreate my files? I can't really start fresh, since I have investments which need to be tracked over long periods of time.

Thanks in advance.
