display order in Holdings screen

Using Quicken Deluxe 2008 desktop. In the investment accounts "Holdings" screen Quicken logically displays the holdings in alphabetical order. Howe3ver my broker statement separates them into Stocks, Mutual funds, etc. So when I am cross checking the statements it would be nice if I could make Quicken's display match the broker's. I do not think that could be done - but thought to ask as it would greatly speed my checking the data if there was a hidden setting I do not know of. Jeff

If you're willing to look elsewhere, I think you can get something that will work better than the Holdings pane of your investment account. You can sort what displays there (by clicking in the heading) ... but only by the contents of a displayed field; and the Holdings pane doesn't offer the appropriate fields.

I have similar situations to yours, and I have been able to use either the Portfolio tab, or the Portfolio Value report, to reconcile to my brokerage statements. For me, the key is to "Group" or "Subtotal" by "Security Type". You can even add your own security types, if needed (Investing > Security Type List). You may need to be cautious not use a security type that would conflict with Quicken assumptions (like only "Mutual Funds" display "Morningstar" ratings).

Thank you very much, John. You are really terrific to provide so much useful help. I am sure I am not the only one who appreciates it - very much.
