Download Historical Bank Transactions

I have returned to using Quicken (2008 in this case) after a hiatus of several years. When I download my banking transactions I only get two months worth (December and January). I seem to remember being able to download historical transactions via QIF files (which I realize are no longer supported). Is there an automated way for me to download the other months data in 2008? Thanks.

That might also depend on what your bank supplies. I'd give them a call.

You might be getting tripped up on terminology here.

The amount of historical data that financial institutions "supply" can, and often does, differ depending on where you look.

Transactions may be viewed at the fi's web site, but that doesn't mean all those transactions are available for downloading.

Transactions may be able to be downloaded using Web Connect, and they may be able to be downloaded using Direct Connect. There is no requirement that either of those download methods offer the same date range of transactions ... many fi's offer more transactions for download via Web Connect than they do via Direct Connect.

I don't know of any fi that offers more transactions for download via Direct Connect than via Direct Connect.

So your best bet is to determine if your fi offers Web Connect downloads. If they do, they "may" offer the ability to select a range of dates to determine which transactions to download via Web Connect. To take advantage of this option, you would logon to the fi's web site and initiate a download from there (Web Connect) - check their web site for a Download to Quicken button.

There is no way to alter the date range of downloaded transactions for any download method other than plain vanilla Web Connect.
