Editing recent file list

Is there a way to remove a file from the recently used files list on the File menu? I have a deleted database and I'd like it not to continue appearing in the list. I have been unable to find where these are stored.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks,

Tim

try - QUSER.INI

mine was located here - and I was logged in as "admin" -

C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Application Data\Intuit\Quicken\Config

You don't indicate what version of Quicken you are using. In my case, Quicken 2008, you want to navigate to QUSER.INI, open it with notepad and you will see the list of recently used files. Just delete the ones, that you don't want.

My recollection (not sure) is that QUSER.INI may have been named something else in older versions so I'd search your primary drive for Q*.ini and review each of the files until you find the one with the list of most recently used files.

Thank you. That was it. I don't know how I missed it. Still getting used to Win 7 I guess.

Hi, Tim.

As the others pointed out, you forgot to mention which version - of either Quicken or Windows - that you are using. But you go the right answer, anyhow. ; Is there a way to remove a file from the recently used files list on the

wow - they really moved things around for Windows 7 -

With no direct and easy migration from XP to Vista/Windows 7, I'm happy to just stay put on XP.

You choice, of course, but let me mention that you *can* do a direct upgrade from XP to Vista (but not to Windows 7).

Yes, no problem at all.

I did that on my laptop. I don't consider it an upgrade. I don't use the laptop much. If I did, I'd reinstall XP. I haven't used Windows 7 yet, but Vista is awful.

I agree Vista is awful. I swapped out Vista for win7 and am glad I did. Did the full reformat, etc to get rid of all traces of Vista. Some Vista computers purchased within the past 2+ years are actually old XP machines that the stores upgraded to Vista. That may actually have caused some issues seen by folks.

This laptop runs Vista Home Basic. It's a little different from XP, but not really all that much. Win7 (Pro, on my much more powerful work machine) is different again, and I like it much better than Vista, but it sure takes some getting used to.

Going from one version of Windows to a newer version *is* an upgrade, by definition, regardless of whether you consider the newer version to be better or not.

In my view, Windows XP was very good, Vista was better still, and Windows 7 is the best of the three. However my views have nothing to do with the fact that going from one of the first two to a later one is an upgrade. And I'm not trying to persuade you that your view of which are better should be the same as mine.

On my OLD version it is Quicken.INI in the Windows directory.

Well thank goodness you answered that 10 year old question...

This is a 10 year old discussion; there is no good reason to be adding to it.

If you are trying to answer the original question, you are too late.

If not, at this stage, you should be starting a new discussion.

What's more, since your reason for posting is not clear, you have provided nothing to indicate whether you have a problem needing an answer, and zero information about your current version of Quicken ... so if you have a question, there is insufficient information to allow others to provide a useful answer (without guessing; something which you should not be asking others to do).
