Error 7170

I have been running Quic ken 2010 H&B for thje past 6 months without problems. The OS is Win7 64 bit.

Now when I try to start Quicken I am getting an error 7170. If I restart I get a similar error but with a different error code (7174 etc) The error code is always of the 7100 series.

From 'Googling' it seems that this error is not uncommon but to date I have found no solution. Can anyone give me a guide on how to solve the problem?

Have you tried reinstalling Quicken? Or even better, backup quicken, uninstall, then reinstall?

I haven't tried to reinstall but I managed to 'fix' the problem by loading a Registry backuyp made a couple of days previously (ERUNT). While Quicken now appears to be OK again I would still very much like to know why the problem occured.

Clearly the 'fix' has indicated a fault within the Registry but how it occured is a mystery, at least to me.
