Failed:06 Error 0062

When trying to process a debit card, the POS returns "Failed" and "06: Error 0062"

Wells Fargo and Vital both say this is an RMS error - Does anyone know what it means?

Thanks - Tad

This sounds like it could be a business critical support issue, which MAY not be chargeable to you, I stress MAY not be. Have you tried calling Microsoft?

Rob

Tad,

Has this ever worked, or is it happening on a particular customer's debit card?

Those messages are both being returned from the processor. I can't find anything definative, but it looks to me like 0062 means invalid merchant code. Vital should be able to tell you that. Have you tried processing a card while on the phone with WF & Vital? They can usually see transactions coming over in real time and figure out what's incorrect from there.

Vital has confirmed that the error message is coming from the 3rd party processor - either Wells Fargo didn't set it up right, or they gave me the wrong sharing group, or the third party processor hasn't actually set me up with an account -

One interesting thing I learned is that the processing gateway that is the default in RMS is actually outdated and should be changed ( at least for Vital ). Vital tech support is fantastic -

When (if?) this is resolved, I will advise -

Thanks All -

Tad,

Are you sure that Wells Fargo even works with debit cards and RMS yet. When the RMS update for debit cards shipped, WF was not able to do debit cards. I'm almost positive you have the wrong Sharing Group number, if my memory is correct. One of my customers received the same "Failed - Re-enter" message.

The ABA number should be your bank account number that the money is deposited to.

Are you using this number for Wells Fargo support - (866) 721-8351

What gateway did Vital switch you to?

Tad,

Did you look at this KB about troubleshooting debit card transactions?

Problem finally resolved -

WFB finally just made a whole new account for me, saying it would solve all the problems. There was an "Expert" in the background doing all this, who I never was able to speak to - but was repeatedly assured that it would all work - although the new account was missing a few important numbers, like sharing group and such - I was told to just use the old numbers for those fields.

Simply - It didn't work. I spent another weekend playing with it after z-ing out each night, but it simply gave a new error code - 19: Re-Enter.

I spoke with a Warren at Vital this morning - and as I said earlier, their support is simply the best - He went through everything, and found that the settlement agent number was blank ( as specified by WFB on the new account sheet ) and he gave me the number I needed - and "Voila", it all worked.

I think Vital is outstanding, and am now looking for a new bank - Thanks all
