ERROR transferring data to Quicken

I got a new computer and installed Quicken 2005 on it. I then downloaded from my bank the current information, which was only information from my last statement. I then tried to restore my backup disk of Quicken, which was 2003, which includes the last several years - and it worked fine. But then I noticed that my newer downloaded information from the bank was no longer there. I then went back to download again any information from my bank and it says " A different Quicken data is already associated with this Quicken.com user. Only one Quicken rile per Quicken.com user is supported". What is going one here?????????? Help?????????????

The error message you are getting is similar to the one I was getting when I tried to upload my bank account data to Quicken.com. Here's how I reset my account on Quicken.com.

Quicken Online - How to Create New Account Select One Step Update Select Quicken.com data to update Select connection Select Quicken.com login check box Box says Change my Quicken.com member ID and password the next time I run one step update.

When I upgraded to Quicken 2005 my bank had me disconnect from their online service. Then reconnect.

So should I leave the backup in there- Go and change my user name and password? Then you say the bank had you disconnnect and reconnect to their service. How did you do that? Or did changing your password accomplish that?

Back up the panic truck.

Unless you just opened your account at the bank within the last couple of months, the odds are that the bank does not have all the transactions on file that have occured in that account: typically, financial institutions only keep 30 to 90 days worth of transactions available for downloading.

Make sure that the transactions that you did download are complete and correct for the period they cover. Then decide how much additional history you want to enter manually. Once you have as much history as you plan to get, you can enter an "Opening Balance" entry, dated prior to your earliest historical transaction, to adjust the account balance to be correct. (You can categorize the Opening Balance entry to the account itself; that is, place the name of the account in square brackets in the Category field).

And you can enter the adjusting opening balance entry immediately if you like; just remember to modify it (amount and possibly date) if/when you manually enter any historical transactions.
