Trial Version

Is it possible to download a Trial Version of Quicken Deluxe from the Intuit site (or elsewhere)? I can't find that option on the Intuit website. I'd like to see if my bank will work with 2005 now that they have eliminated the qif file support.

TIA, laura

Have you tried calling your bank and asking them? How 'bout looking them up on the 'Net?

Just out of curiosity, what bank?

BankNorth Massachusetts. They support Direct Connect according to the Intuit site.

I also want to see if it will convert my MS money 2002 files. I suspect it won't. I may have to upgrade to MS money 2004 first.

Well, according to your bank's website, they do support Q2005:

Unfortunately, Intuit doesn't seem to provide data conversion from Money 2002 to Quicken 2005:

As far as trial versions go, Intuit doesn't provide them. However, they do offer a 60-day money back guarantee:

Good luck!

I should ask mom's trust officer if they supply Quicken to their clients. Its worth a shot as some bank will provide the software.

I noticed that yesterday. Fortunately, I have a copy of Money 2004 also. I would need to upgrade to Money 2004 before Quicken will convert the data. Gives me a good excuse to upgrade Money.

That would be one way of trying it out. Good idea.

Thanks for your help.

My pleasure!

One more thing... Before you do any conversions, be sure to backup your "old" data and store it in a safe place. If the conversion doesn't go as expected, you'll be happy you did.

IIRC, in a previous thread, you decided not to use Q2004, not Q2005. If this is your plan, Q2004 will NOT convert M2004. AFAIK, no version of Q or M will convert their competitor's product of the same year.

Oops! Omit first "not" in first sentence.

Of course. I do that anytime I start experimenting with software.

Good point. Do you know if Q2004 will convert MS 2002?

Intuit claims Q2004 can convert M2003. I don't know for sure, but I would be very surprised if Q2004 couldn't convert M2002 just as "accurately".

Then that would work too. I have access to Q2004 to try before I get my own copy. We are also only talking about 4 months of transactions so if I had to correct some things then it would not be big deal.

Thanks for your help.

Will do. It will be a few days before I get my hands on the Q2004 copy.

One additional note:

While certain functions have been eliminated in Q2005, it's considered, by many, to have a better GUI than 2004.

Decisions, decisions.

I may have to convert MS money 2002 to Q2004 if I am to consider upgrading to Q2005.

Do you know if Q2004 Basic can be upgraded to Q2005 Deluxe?
