disconnect from bank for Quicken

When I use Quicken I cannot update because it says thre is only one person allowed to use the account. I guess I forgot my password or something. Don - from this newsgroup told me the following: When I upgraded to Quicken 2005 my bank had me disconnect from their online service. Then reconnect My question is: How do you do that. Also, I can export from my bank to Quicken - just not the other way around because of the one user thing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicken thinking maybe that would erase their message, but it didn't. I only ever use one password for certain things, so I know it is not wrong. Tried contacting Quicken..............yeah......that was a joke!! If anyone has anymore ideas and if you do Don, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I vaguely remember your earlier post; wasn't that the one where you were getting a message about Quicken.com and having a different Quicken file for the Quicken.com account?

Quicken.com only allows one Quicken data fileset (on your pc) to be associated with one Quicken.com user-id/password. If you have a new Quicken file, you need a new Quicken.com user-id/password.

There is no relationship between your ability to download from your financial institutions and your ability to connect/signon to Quicken.com. If you notice in your One Step Update setup dialog (which you should see as the last thing before you click "Upate Now" to do your download), the Quicken.com section is totally separate and you can uncheck all the Quicken.com choices and still download from your financial institutions.

I suspect that Don was telling you to "Deactivate" your affected Quicken account(s) for "Transaction Download", then re-"Activate" them again. I am not sure how this would affect Quicken.com downloads/uploads, but if you are having a problem with connecting to a financial institution, Deactivating/re-Activating can sometimes help. (Look on the Overview tab for non-investment accounts or the Summay tab for investment accounts ... find/click the button "Change Online Services" and Deactivate, then Activate the account. Unless you do web-connect downloads to the account; in which case, do *not* do the Activate step, only do the Deactivate: the account will be automatically activated the next time you successfully download).
