How to change checking update

I'm using Q 2004 Deluxe. My checking account is with Bank of America. I live in Washington state and the BOA service I have been using is BOA Wash and Idaho. I have been selecting my checking account, clicking on Update Now and then going through the login process. Boa just notified me that they have updated their services and now I need to go to

formatting link
for my updates. (I'm not using one step updates for BOA since they charge for this service.) Where do I edit this Update Now feature to assign the correct address?

Thanks, Jimt

Have you looked on the BOA website anything they might say for those that use Quicken?

I know that, with my bank, they updated their computer system in July and, when they updated it, Members like myself, that use Quicken 2005 could no longer download their accounts without problems.

I looked on their web site and found nothing. I also talked to someone in their "online support" department who basically said they had no idea how to fix it.

To fix my problem, I tried to change the Online Account Services setup to something other than BOA WA & ID. I can't figure out where to make that change. Anyone know how to do this?

Not sure I understand, "... something other than BOA WA & ID"; do you have a specific fi name in mind?

You modify the fi name by going to the Summary tab of the account and clicking the Edit Account Details button in the Account Attributes pane.

But before you can do that, you have to Deactivate the account for transaction download (and leave it deactivated if you intend to continue using Web Connect for downloads ... the next time you do a Web Connect download, Quicken will reActivate the account for you).

Hi John,

I tried what you suggested. After putting in the new BOA fi name it took me through the reactivation process -- at which time it reassigned the BOA-WA & ID FI name. I guess I'll live with the nag screen for a while and then call BOA again to see if they've come up with a solution.

Thanks, Jimt

It sounded to me like BofA had given you a new financial institution name to use which would automatically link to the correct web site; I would have bet that if you used the same fi, you'd get the same setup.

I'm pretty sure the url's for Direct and Web Connect are stored in the file fidir.txt, and that file is supposed to get updated every couple of days when a One Step Update occurs.

I checked my Q2004 fidir.txt file, and your BofA does not have the "new" url that you say BofA wants you to use (the same url, by the way, that I use to manually log on to BofA All Other States). If BofA is telling you that Quicken should be using a new url for you for Web Connect ... BofA has to supply that url to Intuit, so Intuit can get it into the source of data for fidir.txt.

If your problem description is accurate, I am surprised there have not been more similar complaints from folks using your BofA. I would think they would all have the same problem as you.

I would definitely try BofA again, and I would see if I could move one level up the support chain, it you don't get a better answer on your first try.

If nothing good happens with BofA, and if you have the problem correctly diagnosed (that there should be a new url in fidir.txt), then posting the particulars in the Intuit forums may help. When informed of similar situations, Intuit has followed up, and I believe they have ultimately gotten things straightened out. (Be advised: there is often a delay between the time an fi technically changes something like the url and the time it gets into fidir.txt ... depending on how recently the change occurred, you could just be in that window of incompleteness.)

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply. I'll follow your advice and report back to the group if I'm still having problems.
