With Q2007, I can't update my Bank of America accounts with either WebConnect or One Step Update anymore!

I was cruising along with Quicken 2006 H&B for quite a while, logging onto the BofA web site each week to download my transactions using WebConnect. I could open a browswer within Q2006 and download the QFX file. (Note, I don't subscribe to the $10 per month service for one-step-update.)

Since upgrading to Q2007 H&B, Quicken will no longer open a browswer window within Quicken, and forces me to configure the account for OSU. When I run OSU though, I get a message CC-501 that I can't update data due to an error on the Quicken server. Is this really an error on the Quicken server, or is it because I don't subscribe to the OSU service from BofA? Is there any way to just get my Q2006 behaviour back?

Thanks!

You don't have to use Express Web Connect for BoA.

De-activate your BoA account.

Go to the BoA web site, OUTSIDE of Quicken, and choose to download one of your statements.

Choose the "Open" file option, and point it to your BoA account.

Bob

P.S. Keep in mind that BoA only downloads end-of-billing period statements now, not current transactions.

Is that true for checking/savings accounts? Or just credit card accounts?

John:

Sorry, should have been more explicit.

My credit cards, i.e. BoA, AAA, LLBean only do end-of-period.

Checking, Savings, and Money Market accounts do current transactions.

Bob

P.S. I'm thinking of finally breaking down and paying the $9.95/month for Online Banking ;-)

I know that I can do that, but this seems to me this is a step backwards - shouldn't I just be able to stay in one application (like I used to in Q2006)?

I think what we are trying to say is that your problem has nothing to do with going from Q2006 to Q2007; it has to do with your financial institution.

And, I should have added: your approach to the changes that have occurred.

Switch banks.

Many offer free online banking.

What fee? You don't need to pay a 'per month' fee in order to use one step update in Quicken. Unless you mean your bank charges you to access the data via a software package? (Nasty, that. But BoA is not very generous regarding its services, from what I've seen since my CCard was switched over).

According to the release notes, 2007 didn't take any functionality away, simply added a new option for Express Web Connect. If BoA doesn't support webconnect (because they want to charge you a fee!) Quicken should still open the bank web site.

"Quicken attempts the best connection experience first. This means a customer that enters a customer ID and password to set up a new account will get the following connection methods in the following order:

Direct Connect: If an error occurs (e.g. authentication), then Quicken automatically attempts Express Web Connect.

Express Web Connect: If an error occurs, then Quicken automatically attempts traditional Web Connect. Traditional Web Connect: Quicken opens the online banking Web site" Try disabling online access for your BoA account. Back out of Quicken. Restart, and tell Quicken to enable for online access. Post back if you still have problems.
