replying to BookReader, docfiddle wrote: This workaround has been disabled in the latest Q17 release. The nag is now controlled by a hardcoded file /intuit/quicken/data/qw.rmd and not by quser.ini. The program changes the counter if it has read access to quser.ini but that action is now separated from the reminder tag, hardcoded into qw.rmd. If you delete quser, the program creates a new one. If you enter execnum=-999 and allow access, the program clicks the counter and moves on. If you make it read-only, the program ignores the file and you still get the nag. If you block access to /data and/or qw/rmd, the program gives you another nag screen telling you to unblock it, and if you rename qw.rmd the program creates a new one, so you have to choose between 2 evils: the upgrade nag or the unblock-so-you-get-the-upgrade-nag.

I set it to "3" and the nag still appears when starting Quicken 2015

What did you do for a work around ?

To avoid the ads, I update my Q to maintain currency by maintaining a subscription. That would also fix your "problem". There are lots of bug fixed and new features...plus I get the satisfaction of supporting the product development to keep it viable. Why not try that?

Because "Q" as you call it, isn't worth the subscription price. New features, who cares? Just provide the basic program and stop begging for money. As for your satisfaction, why not find a question asking about how to waste money annually.

OK, I guess we differ in the value of Q. I use many of the features (for example, just did the semi annual asset allocation balancing which would be a REAL PITA without since it keeps track to the penny of all the accounts, and maintains current and future allocation model suggestions).

They do continue to offer updates that interest me enough to support their efforts. There's probably lots of freeware/shareware that might fit your bill that don't "beg' for money.

To each their own, no problem with that.

Best and easy way is to go to Quicken folder in Program Files and fine Quickenpatch.exe and rename it Quickenpatch.old no more nag.

Thank you, appreciate you posting this. Do you have a fix for stopping Quicken 2017 from going online? I am currently setting the computer to "airplane mode" before opening quicken.
