Quicken 2007 Update to Release 5

I am running Quicken 2007 Premier Release 4 under Windows XP SP2 Home Edition. I received notification that Release 5 is available and when I try to run the update I receive the following message: "This update will not work with your version of Quicken. Contact Tech Support at

to obtain the correct update orgoto Quicken's Help Menu and choose "Download Latest Version". All my downloaded transactions have been accepted into the register and I have done a reboot of my computer before restarting Quicken. I ran with Norton AntiVirus 2006 disabled during the download/update.

All help is appreciated.

Hi, Oilcan.

I'm running Quicken 2007 Basic on Vista Ultimate x64. No antivirus installed.

In January, I reported some serious problems with updating to Release 3, which I reported at some length here. :>(

Release 4 was not much of a problem. ;-)

Release 5 update was smooth as silk this morning. ;I am running Quicken 2007 Premier Release 4 under Windows XP SP2 Home

I suppose this was the Vista patch. :)

I got the release to run. I ran a Super Validate on my data files, uninstalled the software, reinstalled the software and Release 5 patch. It works seems to have remembered configuration items.

I'm running Quicken Deluxe 2007 R4 on Windows 2000 with no problem. When I try and install the R5 patch it downloads and I get the message that the patch was not applied due to " A patching engine error has occured". What now?

The Quicken update site shows R4 is the latest update for Windows. Could R5 be in a different location?

It ususally takes a few days after the release for it to appear at the Intuit Support site.

It took me 3 tries to get it to install. This is with Win2K.

First time, it seemed to download, but got stuck at 'saving'. I closed out the form, and it had an error about invalid handle.

I tried again and it downloaded and started the update. But, it complained it couldn't close all Quicken components. I used task manager and killed QW.EXE.

I then started up Quicken, and it popped up a message (BEHIND the splash screen), that I had downloaded an update and if I wanted to install it. I said yes, and it finally finished the update.
