Quicken 2013 Release 11 Upgrades

Apr 16, 2013 11 Replies

I cannot get my Quicken 2013 Release 11 to complete an on-line update. I'm talking about software upgrade, not account updates. It will go through the process for several minutes then I get an error message that says the download could not be completed and I should try again later. I've done this several times and always get the same error message. Any suggestions?

I'm using Quicken on a HP Pavilion desktop computer with Windows 8 and it has the most recent upgrade. I have a lot of free disk space and RAM so I'm sure this is not the problem. All other software is working well and I've had no problems with on-line upgrades with any of these other apps.

Thanks, Gordon

Typo! I am running Quicken Premier 2013 Release 10(22.1.10.2), not Release 11, as stated above. I have been trying for several weeks to get this problem resolved but can't make any headway. Quicken seems to be working reasonably well, without the update but every time I start Quicken I get a pop up that tells me a free update is available. But it won't download. That is, it goes through the process for several minutes then stalls and I get a popup telling me that the file could not be downloaded.

Is there any way I can go to the Quicken site and download this update without trying to do it in and through Quicken? I'd like to download the update and save it to my hard drive, then activate this downloaded file and let it complete the update modifications my Quicken software needs.

Thanks for any info. Gordon

Well, you can't get R11 anymore, because R12 is now out.

To download manual patches, go here:

To protect yourself, I suggest going to that site whenever a new release comes out and downloading the manual patch and saving it. Intuit will only keep the most current manual patch available at that site, so if you ever want to revert to an earlier release, or you want to reinstall with no internet; you'll want those manual patch files on your pc.

Thanks, John. That worked very well and my Quicken seems to be working fine after the upgrade. The Help > About Quicken window shows that I'm now running Quicken 2013 Premier Release R12 (22.1.12.7).

I noticed another download, Alternate Mondo Patch, at the above web site. Do I need to download and install this or is it just a sub set of the QW2013R12Patch that I downloaded and installed? Gordon

According to that site, you use the Mondo patch only if the regular patch doesn't work.

My situation is that neither of them work!

Does anyone have the patch for release 11 they could send me?

Hmmm...I found QW2013R11Patch and installed it and it gives the same error messages about QW.RMD and qw.log.

I'm going back to R1. I have bills to pay.

The mondo patches are what to use when the regular patch fails to install correctly.

I usually download both patch files and save them - then I usually install using the mondo patch, but I believe the regular patch works for most people.

John,

Is there really any good reason(s) to upgrade from 2012 to 2013?

Thanks in advance. charliec

Sounds like a good idea. I just downloaded the mondo patch and now have both downloads saved, just in case I ever need them. I will also make backup copies of these downloads and store them on my external backup hard drive. Better to have them and never need them than to need them and not be able to get them on-line any more. Gordon

Yes, if you want to enrichen Intuit with YOUR hard-earned money, unnecessarily. Or, if your 3 year download privilege is about to expire.

That's one of those loaded questions; personal needs/wants being so different. What's a "good reason"? And while I have both products and was a beta tester for both and regularly test with both ... I am still using Q2010.

For me personally, I don't like Q2012, and I find Q2013 a better product.

Off the top of my head, I 'd say the single biggest positive difference is that the Q2013 budget process is much better than that in Q2012 - in my opinion.

I will not use the Q2013 mobile feature; and would not use the Q2013 loan download feature, even if I could. And they are the two areas that seem to get the most problems reported.

But I would also say that if anyone is comfortable with Q2012, they should probably keep using it.

Thanks for the update. charliec
