Update download problem

I installed Quicken Premier 2013 on my new computer a few months ago and have been using it since. From time to time it will show a pop-up indicating that updates are available and ask if I want to download and install these updates. I select Yes and it goes through a long process of on-line activity but after several minutes it will show a pop-up with the message: Sorry we were unable to complete the downloads. Please try again later.

I have gone through this several times but it always ends up the same. I'm wondering if maybe my Windows 8 malware protection software is blocking this download. How can I check this out? Thanks, Gordon

The current release of Q2013 is R11. If you are not running R11 (see Help > About Quicken), I suggest you go to the following site:

formatting link
and download the manual patch for R11, then run that patch (when Quicken is not running). If the regular patch file does not install properly, try downloading and installing the "Mondo" patch.

Personally, I'd bookmark the above site and plan to go there every time a new release is available and download and save the manual patch (every time a new patch is released, the previous patch file is deleted from the web site by Intuit). Even if the automatic update works fine, it's handy to have the manual patches, which you can use to reinstall anytime ... to any release.
