Quicken v2013 vs Quicken 2012

I have Qucken v2012 and upon launching it today, I received an offer for Quicken v2013 for $35. From what I've read on here, not sure the upgrade is needed. What are some of your thoughts on upgrading at the $35 price?

Worth it?

IMVHO, the update is not worth 1 cent. I'll NOT be updating until I absolutely have to, in order to maintain the ability to update stock prices via download. But, hell, if you have nothing better to spend $35 on, PLUS your time in setting it up, go for it!

I certainly agree with Sharx35, go for it! Keep Quicken as a viable product by supporting the reasonable fees to avoid having it go the way of Microsoft Money.

I'm using Quicken 2012 and haven't upgraded to Quicken 2013. I probably won't unless there's a super price for Quicken 2013 plus TurboTax. My view is that there's almost never a good reason to do such an upgrade. There are very few differences between one year's version and the next. I usually upgrade every two years or so.

I'd like to see that as well. Unfortunately the only bundles I've seen recently include the "Starter Edition" of QD.

I needed to update my Quicken Premier 2010 to avoid the April 2013 sunset. After reading the reviews of Quicken 2013 I decided to upgrade to Quicken Premier 2012 instead of 2013. I found an online software house selling 2012 for half the price of 2013 and made the purchase last night.

S-U-C-K-E-R Intuit relies on suckers and their money.

Don, it's good to see that there is someone in this ng, other than myself, who still places a value on frugality. I feel NO obligation towards Intuit. Rest assured, they have priced their product high enough to ensure its survival even though some of us refuse to upgrade until we absolutely have to.

Hey, let's keep it civil here Sharx! I could have easily call you a F-R-E-E-L-O-A-D-E-R . I'm doing my part to keep Quicken viable. Are you?

Andrew, I have ALWAYS paid for whatever version of Quicken I possess. I have NEVER used a pirated version. Also, every year, I pay Intuit about $500 CDN for their professional income tax software. I simply refuse to update Quicken more often than required to avoid the download "sunset". I probably have paid Intuit MORE than almost any other poster here, Plus, I've visited their Edmonton HQ, courtesy of an acquaintance who works there. Intuit employs a LOT of people here in Edmonton, ALberta, you know.

That's good ! I try to think of my yearly purchase as a subscription. The value I get from Q far exceeds the small yearly sum I pay to Intuit for maintaining what is my virtual only system-justifying application. If it weren't for Q, I probably would 100% go the way of the tablet. Peace!
