Q2007 R2 Update problems

I have just updated Q2007 to R2 and now any changes made to my toolbar are not saved.

Is this a known bug or am I missing something ?

Thanks.

Well I just did a OSU to update my copy of QP2007, and there was no indicator that an update was even available. I see from the Quicken Support Forum that the update won't be available for manual download and installation for a few days. I wonder if Intuit is doing a selective notification so servers aren't overloaded? I even ran OSU twice to make sure I wasn't missing the notification.

So if I'm missing the obvious, and the update is there, please let me in on the secret. ;-)

Margaret

Hmm, maybe they have withdrawn it because of problems ...

But my Help About Quicken now reads

"Quicken 2007 Home & Business Release R 2"

I just updated about 7:00 PM Pacific. I was shown on the page that reports the One Step Update Errors as a "link".

My 2 attempts at osu did not result in the notice of r2 being available either. My big ? -- did they fix the print problem (inability to print ctrl/p, reconciliation, etc.) that so many of us experienced?

Another osu & r2 was available; attempts to install resulted in patching error message. Finally installed r2 in safe mode & all is fine EXCEPT they did not fix the print problem! They do now offer skins, as if that was the most important "fix." According to the forum there were some other issues resolved that must have been easier to remedy.

Well I was offered the R2 update when I did an OSU just a little while ago. Haven't used Quicken much since then, but I do like the blue color better than the default green ... although I had no complaints with the green. Being a "purple person," I thought I might like that one, but it seemed a bit too much. I don't like the tan much either, but to each his or her own. ;-)

I also just updated Q2007 to R2 and I am also having the same problem of not being able to update the toolbar. After the upgrade 2 of my icons on the toolbar were missing and when I tried to add them back They were indeed added back, but, as soon as I left the program and started it back up they were gone again. They evidently have intorduced a bug that causes this.

Good to hear that I'm not alone with this ... It only seems to be the 'extra buttons' that are not remembered.

It amazes me how this got through quality control.

Yes, this is apparently a known problem introduced with the R2 upgrade. The only workaround is to reinstall your original software (R1) and then refuse R2 when offered until you know the problem is resolved (hopefully in R3 !). Art Masson

Or, since it's just icons newly added that don't "stick," revert to R1, get your toolbar the way you want it, and *then* apply R2. Make no more toolbar changes till R3.

I usually end up making a few slight modifications in my toolbar when a new Quicken version is released. But I made no changes between 2006 and 2007, I guess because the UI didn't change enough that I felt the need to modify my toolbar. IIRC, there was one year where Intuit removed the toolbar entirely, and we whined so much they ended up bringing it back.

Long live the Quicken toolbar, and hopefully this new bug will get fixed soon. :-)

And to the person who wondered how something like this got through QA, well, think about how toolbars are generally used. They are configured and for the most part, used as they were originally set up. Occasionally a change in UI or our usage makes it simpler to add, delete or move an icon or two. Changes to any program can result in the strangest of bugs, and if no tester noticed this toolbar bug, I'm not surprised, considering how users tend to use toolbars.

Margaret
