ING Electric Orange?

I have had an ING Direct savings account for several years, but I see they now offer a checking account that pays 3% - 5% interest with no fees. It also offers free bill pay service. I'm interested, but want to make sure it's fully functional with Quicken 2007.

Has anyone used an ING checking account, and does the bill pay work completely from within Quicken, or do you have to log onto their website to pay bills?

Thanks, Danno

I'm interested myself. I suspect, tho, that since the SAVINGS accounts require a log-in to the ING site (as opposed to a direct download) that the checking will require the same.

My ING savings account had direct connect when I opened it. They did away with direct connect when they implemented their multi-screen, with unique image, web login process. The reason given was that their new process was more secure. The financial institution list in Quicken only lists Web Connect for ING Direct. I can tolerate web connect for a savings account but not for a checking account that I access daily.

Not true. I use Direct connect with my ING savings. I had to deactivate and reactivate after they implemented additional security requirements. When you reactivate, Quicken prompts you with several security questions, but then 2 way direct connect works. I have been using it for quite some time. I guess I should just call them and ask if the bill pay works the same was as it does for my BofA checking.

Thanks, Danno

I have an ING Savings account and am very interested in what you find out about their checking accounts. But how do they handle ATMs? I believe the propaganda they sent me said there were no ATM fees, but what about the fee my bank charges when I use another bank's card in their machine? This is why I've always kept an account in a brick and mortar bank with lots of ATMs.

I don't know abouy ING, but you don't necessarily need a brick and mortar bank to avoid atm fees. USAA will reimburse you for a certain max amount of atm fees per month.

You'll want to carefully look at the ATM's that ING lets you use for free. They are not bank ATM's, nor the others that we would commonly find at places where we go. They tend to be located in certain chain stores that might be convenient for some people.
