Investment issue with manual now direct connect downloading

Apr 07, 2009 3 Replies

When I started my current job I created a new 401K account in Quicken. At the time, direct connect was not available for the account. I manually added the transactions to buy/sell a fund named 'ESOP Fund'. Fast forward to the present and the account now has the ability to be enabled for direct connect. When the transactions are downloaded they have a fund name of 'ESOP Fund-270001'. Is there anyway to tell Quicken that 'ESOP Fund-270001' is 'ESOP Fund'? Simply changing 'ESOP Fund' to 'ESOP Fund-270001' didn't seem to do the trick. Alternatively, is there a way to rename all transactions to 'ESOP Fund' as 'ESOP Fund-270001'?

I'm using Quicken 2008 Deluxe

Thanks in advance, Jef

Edit the original security in the Security List. Uncheck the box, "Matched with online security". Next time you download anything for that security, Quicken should ask you whether it's new, or to match it with an existing security.

Hey John, I tried your suggestion and it worked like a champ. Just wanted to say thank you for this answer and all the answers you provide people. The group is lucky to have you here answering questions.
