Downloaded Payee Often Wrong

I'm using Quicken Deluxe 2019. When I do a OSU, the downloaded payee on some transactions is often wrong. For several different accounts, it often has the name of a completely different credit card account that I have.

Anyone know what might be wrong and how to fix it?

Quicken (qw.exe on your pc) has nothing to do with the contents of downloads; that is all handled upstream.

Direct Connect and Web Connect downloads are created by the financial institution. Express Web Connect downloads may be created by Intuit, or the financial institution - only Quicken Support knows which.

To determine the exact contents of the downloaded payee, you can tell Quicken to display the "Downloaded Payee" column in the account register. (To control which register columns are displayed, see the small gear-wheel icon directly above the register vertical scroll bar).

Only the creator of the downloaded data can change what appears in that data.

It's not uncommon to get a downloaded payee name that is not what the user wants. Use Quicken "Renaming Rules" to change the downloaded payee name to a name you prefer. Tools > Renaming Rules.

You should check your Renaming Rules to see if any are involved in producing the incorrect payee name. You can modify or delete any incorrect Renaming Rules.

Quicken can create Renaming Rules automatically when you manually rename a payee. If that's not what you want to happen, you should turn that option off. Edit > Preferences > Downloaded transactions. Uncheck "Automatically create rules when I rename payees" (alternatively: you can keep that option selected, but ask to be allowed to confirm before a rule is created).

Thanks very much. Some of the problem may have been with Renaming Rules. I just made some change and I'll see what happens.
