Is there a way to backup quicken 06 without the attachments?

I like the ability to attach pdf statements to quicken but when I want to dump the files to a flash memory device and take it with me I really don't want all the attachments because of their size. Is there a way to accomplish this?

When you "dump the files to a flash memory device", exclude the "Attach" folder.

So you're saying just do a file copy from windows and leave out the attachment folder. I would have thought this would create problems. Glad it won't. Thanks.

What if I update the quicken files without the attachments and then put them back on my harddrive? How will the attachments join back up?

You didn't say you wanted to do that. I don't know. It ought to be easy enough to test though.

i use a 512 mg flash memory usb stick and have sub-divided into 3 folders. The first "dump" takes a bit of time but subsequent dumps are quicker since the attachments file is only updated not entirely written over. I am not sure if your concern is speed of writing (get a fast memory stick) or large files (mine total 60 mg counting the attachments) - get a large capacity (1 g) for very little money. I used to use zip drive - but the

100 mg limit made it impractical when I use the attachments.

Quicken won't backup the \Attachments\ subfolder if the target device does not have enough space. Alternatively, you can manually copy the folders as John P suggested. Hpwever, using or restoring from a backup with no attachments renders all the attachments invalid.
