In my Schwab Account I hold Janus Adviser Worldwide Fund Class S and the Symbol is JWG1Z. My Schwab downloads work fine but the price download cannot find that fund or symbol. Since I want not only today's price but historical pricing as well, I certainly can't enter it myself. Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
I have a couple funds like that where Schwab uses goofy symbols (usually with numbers in them). You need to get the real ticker symbol, which would be JWGRX and use that in Quicken.
Also annoying is that your At a Glance page in Quicken may not work properly for these goofy ticker symbols. I complained about this to them.
Thanks, John, the one thing I can't figure out is how to import the prices into Price History. Can you give me a clue as to how that is done? Thanks again, I appreciate the help!
There are several different ways; which one you use depends on why you need the prices. And you didn't say what version-year of Quicken you have, there may be some subtle differences in approach depending on version-year.
In Q2005, you can get historical prices directly by going to the Investing Center, Portfolio tab, and clicking "Download Historical Prices". Also from Investing > Security Detail View > Update > Download Historical Prices.
If you need historical prices that are not available via Quicken's historical price download, you may be able to get them from Yahoo (and others), where you download a .csv file and have Quicken do a File > Import > Import Prices (you must have the Portfolio tab selected).
Theoretically, you can import prices from a .qif file, though there have been reports that this may not work as advertised.
