Upgrading across several releases

I have been using Quicken98 for some time. It hangs on my new Windows XP machine, so I will probably have to upgrade.

The new versions of Quicken don't import .qif files for accounts. The question is, Does the current version understand the internal file format of Q98, so I can get access to my old data?

Backup your data before you try. Quicken is designed to convert older versions of data files when first opened. In some cases the files are too old (I doubt yours are - we're talking Quicken 6 for DOS old) and then you have to migrate via interim releases. If your migration fail, either contact Intuit Customer Support (free for installation/conversion problems) or look in their Knowledge Base for the article with instructions on how to download trial versions for migration.
