Memo field

Is there an easy way to view the entire contents of an entry in the check register's memo field?

Scroll in the register memo field, create a report, or upgrade to Q2005; I think.

I entered as much data as I could in the memo field of a Q2005 (checking account) transaction, and did not have to scroll to see all of it.

Thanks. How does it do that? Does the field resize itself vertically? Not sure how several sentences would be visible, maybe they've shortened the max length of the field?

I do not understand your question.

I entered as many characters as Quicken allowed me to enter into the "memo" field. In Q2005, I could see every one of those characters without having to scroll to the end of the field.

It sounds to me like you are not talking about the memo field, which does not have any capability for "several sentences".

Oops, sorry, I overstated the case a bit. But it does have the capacity for 65 characters (in Q2004). You can see all 65 characters without scrolling?

I did not count the number of characters (but 64 or 65 sounds about right). I entered characters in the memo field until I could enter no more. I eyeballed the memo field and could see every character I had entered. (This was not true in Q2004H&B).

But, I think I should have added much earlier; I think this is largely a function of the size of your monitor, the size (and even the type) of the font you use, and how much area you have allowed for your account register (is your Quicken app Maximized?, have you squeezed the Account bar as small as it will go?)

Thanks John. What was the difference in Q2004H&B that did not allow viewing the whole field? (I'm using Q2004 Premier).

Still, seems like there oughta be a simple way (double-click or whatever) to view the whole field, regardless of font or screen resolution.

Not totally sure, but I think it's not a function of Q2005. The only difference I can see is that the pc running Q2005 has a higher resolution monitor than the one running Q2004. That's why I added my caveats in my previous post. The more I looked at it, the less I believed it had anything to do with Q2005.
