Merging Accounts from two Brokers

I would like to merge the accounts from two different brokers into a single brokerage account. Currently using Quicken H&B2007. From what I have been able to discern from the Help within Quicken this does not seem possible. Only thing possible is to rename the two or more accounts to the new brokerage name and leave everything else alone. Under the old days of QIF it was possible to export, clean up and then import the cleaned file.

If anyone known how to accomplish this without 3000 copies/cuts and then pastes please either detail the process or if you know of a program that would allow me to perform this operation please respond.

I went to the link in the Quicken forum and read your post. However, in Quicken 2007 the choices for Import are: addresses prices TurboTax Web Connect File.

There is no option for the importing of a QIF file.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Nope.

My understanding is that Q2007 permits the same qif importing that Q2006 does ... but I don't have Q2007, so I have no way to test that, or to see if any changes were made to how you access the import capability.

Q2006 has information on importing qif file in the Help; perhaps Q2007 does too.

Ok, here's an update. After having this nag at me for 15 minutes, I realized what the problem is.

If you see the option to import "prices", you have the Investing Center open. Open the Cash Flow Center, or one of your checking/savings/cash accounts ... then File > Import.

Just looked at this in QW07 Dlx

Open an account; e.g. a cash flow account or an investment account.

Then go to File > Import and you will see the option for a QIF File.

You do not see the QIF option if your in 'Investing Center', 'Cash Flow Center', etc.

Correction - you do see the option for QIF File in the Cash Flow Center

- just not in the Investment Center.

Are these two accounts within the same Quicken file? If so, I believe there is a transaction "Shares Transferred Between Accounts" that you can use.

JM Thanks now I see the QIF import. Will now start experimenting to see if I can accomplish my merging goal.
