I am a user of Money UK 2005. Like many users we are wondering what to do after January 2011 when Microsoft turn off the stock updates.

Unfortunately we cannot use Quicken US, as this does not import a Money UK file.

Is there any chance that Inuit might make a version of Quicken for the international market? There are no countries outside of the US that support background banking, so this feature would not be needed in an International version. Just stock updates and multi-currency support.

I did have a look at Moneydance, but found it very basic compared to MSMoney. Also, it cannot convert an MS Money file - and the import process is laborious and error-prone.

I don't need background banking (it was never widely adopted in the UK anyway) but online updates of currency and stock-prices is essential. I would stick with MS Money but they have decided even to turn off these services.

I'm not in the U.K., but I imported 7 years of Quicken data (about 5 minutes) and validated the results in a day. This included inactive Banking, Credit Cards and Investment accounts (about 50 inactive accounts in total). My US 401(k) account has investment history going back to 1982 and I have one stock investment going back to 1976.

Moneydance does meet your requirement of direct "updates of currency and stock-prices". It also handles VAT. Did you download the software and import your MS Money data? This can be done for free and you can look at the results and play with the data - the only limitation here is you can only enter 100 manual transactions - but you can import as many as you want.

I think there are two weakness that I have seen some improvements on since February - 1) Investment Reports and 2)Reporting on Tags....
