N/A in payee and memo fields after installing Quicken 2008

Sep 10, 2007 2 Replies

When I installed Quicken 2008 last weekend and my data was converted to the new format many (say 50%) of my transactions now have N/A in the payee and/or memo fields or both.

I contacted Intuit and they recommended uninstalling 2008, reinstalling 2007, restoring my data file back to a 2007 version and validating the file. I ran the validation and errors were corrected. However, when I installed Quicken 2008 the corrected data file still had N/A in the payee and memo fields after it was converted.

Intuit now recommends that I export/import all of my data from Quicken

2007 to Quicken 2008. My past experiences with export/import were ugly. I don't believe that all details of a transaction are exported/ imported correctly. For example, I don't believe that the links between account to account transfers are maintained.

Looking though the various posts I find that there have been problems with N/A appearing in some of the investment accounts. However, these don't seem to apply to the N/A I experiencing in converting from 2007 to 2008.

Has anyone had this same experience in converting from 2007 to 2008? Any suggestions?

Thanks, Clark

Yup, I had the same problem. I promptly uninstalled Q2008 & re-installed Q2007 & restored my previous 2007 data. This never happened on an upgrade with Quicken before so it is clearly a bug that they will need to work out. I figured I would wait until the next release to see if the problem is corrected. Sorry I don't have a solution for you. Rich

Rich,

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like I'll just have to wait too. Intuit has stopped replying to my emails. I guess that my only recourse is to return Quicken 2008.
