No currency in Canadian Accounts

I originally had Quicken US version. When I moved back to Canada, I bought a Canadian version. The US accounts that I converted did not have a currency type in the account information. The maintenance program did not allow for changing the currency field. I was running

2001 H&B and figured maybe by now Quicken would support changing the currency field. I upgraded to Q XG 2005 and find that the maintenance still does not support maintenance of the currency field. Does anybody know if there is a utility to change the field? Or a way to copy info to MS Excel and then back again? Any and all help appreciated.

I don't know if the Canadian version of Q2005 still permits unlimited QIF file importing or not. If it does, you could get the free macro "xl2qif", install as addin to Excel, export from Quicken to QIF, use xl2qif to import QIF into Excel, apply a macro or formula of your own to the amount fields, output to QIF using xl2qif, then import the QIF to Quicken (either delete the old account and recreate first; or, if Canadian version permits, select all old transactions and delete first).

Thanks John. I got the XL macro and loaded a file to excel. The currency field does not show up. I am trying to determine where the currency field for each account is kept so I can change it for those accounts that are now blank - or without currency - because the upgrade to a newer Canadian version from an older US version does not put in a currency and there is no maintenance function to change it in Quicken - shows as blank.

I never meant to suggest that any currency field would be available: only that you might be able to use the approach I suggested to convert from one currency to another or to modify the current currency values to new values.

Part of my suggestion was that you might need to create a new account to import to in Quicken (for the correct currency, if the old account had an incorrect currency).

I have Quicken H&B 2005 Canadian version. I don't see any facility to change the currency once an account is set up. Upon reflection, I think it would be an awfully difficult, and seldom used, feature.

I think you need to create an account in the currency you desire. Then either manually enter the transactions, or import them from Excel as suggested by John.
