Guys, I could really use your help. Here is a description of my problem:
I am running Quicken Premier 2005 Home & Business Release 3 on WinXP Pro and am unable to get stock updates when I run One-Step-Update (OSU). When I run OSU, sometimes I see the green progress bar, but even when I do it never completes to 100% and updates my stock prices. Instead it appears to hang and then prematurely shutdown Q2005 without getting any updates. I am only attempting to get stock quotes (nothing from my bank).
I don't understand what is going on. This problem arose back in April. I attempted to troubleshoot the problem with one of Intuit's tech support guys in India who tried to extort a troubleshooting fee from me (which he failed to do). Eventually, he tried telling me it was my computer that was causing the problem. So, I installed Q2005 on Win2K machine and had the exact same problem. We also went through all the validate, super-validate stuff and none of it worked.
Well, I gave up on the OSU for about a couple of months and sometime early June I decided to run OSU again. To my surprise I was able to get all of my updates. I then realized that the problem must be on Quicken's server (hardware or software). I thought all was fixed until 3 days ago. Now the same thing happens. I run OSU and Q2005 shutsdown without giving me any updates.
I also tried:
Investing > Security Detail View > Update > Download Quotes
to try to get updates but this failed as well.
I find this whole thing very disappointing. I had Q1996 and Q2001 and never once had a problem getting stock quote updates. Intuit forced me to 'upgrade' from Q2001 in order to be eligible to download stock quotes.
Does anyone have any ideas for troubleshooting this problem? What is the name of the server that quicken tries to connect to? Any help will be appreciated.
