One Step Update Not Working Today

This morning the automatic update wouldn't finish (after an hour trying). I killed the qw.exe and bagent.exe tasks, checked the online summary (nothing unusual there for today), then tried it manually. After telling me that all except four stock symbols I was using were invalid (at least a dozen), the manual update had to be cancelled (again wouldn't complete). This time the online summary had this error message:

"The date in the certificate is invalid or expired"

The downloaded quotes section had this error message:

"Missing symbols: 4 out of 13 securities serviced."

No configuration items, nor symbols entered, has changed in over a month. It appears that what appears to be a meltdown at quicken.com is preventing automatic update of my banking and credit card accounts. Anyone else not able to run one-step update today?

It would be useful to state what version of which Quicken you have, what OS, and what method of connecting to the internet.

FWIW, I had no problem updating, except that FirstUSA was off-line, and I didn't check stock prices, since here in the US, the markets have not been open since Friday. I don't care to clutter my records with (to me) non- relevant prices.

Running Quicken 2003 R3 here, accessing through Optimum Online. Have no problem getting to

with my web browser (MSIE 6,on XP SP2 with all hotfixes up-to-date).

I can't disable the stock quotes (or any item) manually for a manual session without disabling it for scheduled updates, otherwise I'd do the same.

It's after 5 P.M. and it's not working for me either.

Q05D one-step update worked successfully early this morning and just now.

Mine worked today but I did have a problem last week. I had to create a new file and export/import the info from the old file before things were working again. The FI had no clue as to what was causing my problem.

Ditto for me. Q2003 user.

Yeah, Update is still not functioning, I also use Quicken 2003.

Still not working here, although now it recognizes the stock symbols (that never changed). Still getting the "date in the certificate is invalid" error under bank accounts, and one step update hangs.

Tried to check Intuit's (no)knowledge base (from within Quicken 2003) and this is what comes up when I search on that error message:

"HTTP Status 500 -

type exception report

message

description The server an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request. ... note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/5.0.27 logs"

I left out the verbose error info, but confirmed that that error is coming from Intuit, not from within Quicken 2003.

It's also interesting to note that Intuit disabled Windows shortcut keys in the Quicken 2003 help windows, so you can't copy any of the help text into another window (like error messages).

Correction, I exited Quicken 2003 and went back in, and it still won't recognize most of my stock symbols.

Tried to navigate the Quicken 2003 "support" help system and "Online Account Services Support" takes me to a dead web page that shows this error:

"Message from the ISAPI plugin:

No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds. Build date/time: Jan 20 2003

Change Number: 232758"

Tried to get to Intuit's support web page from MSIE and got the exact same error at this URL:

Most of the web links from within the help system are no longer working. The only other option shown from within the program for assistance is the fee based telephone support at 520-618-7140 Monday through Friday 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PST).

Last time I checked Intuit's "sunset" policy they had dropped support for versions 2002 and older, but Intuit had apparently scheduled the end of support for Quicken 2003 for next year.

I guess Intuit expects Quicken 2003 users to have to take a day off from work to get fee-based tech support?

Try it again. It just worked here, and half of the support web links are working within Quicken 2003 help. However none of the web links for the Quicken Brokerage, or credit cards, are working. Quicken support is also working again from Intuit's home page. And it only took them two days to fix it.

Right, started working again Tuesday evening. Amazing, it took them two days to fix one of the key reasons some people use their software, the stock update feature. I am NOT impressed with Quicken's attention to this problem. The ability to contact them on their website is not good either. They charge $25 per incident for telephone support, when something like this impacted many users, and thus they should have a hotline to take complaint calls.
