One Step Update Summary Problem

For some reason, when I download transactions from a financial site, the download works with no problem, but the "One Step Update Summary" page appears at the end with a "Quicken.com" error at the bottom. The error is:

------------------------------------- A red circle with a "!" in the Center and Quicken.com as the title

Expanding the item and I see the following:

"Portfolio Sync You need to select accounts to Export"

--------------------------------------

What is the cause of this and how do I correct it?

Thanks charliec

I'm running Quicken 2012 and lately, whenever I download transactions, the One Step Update Summary opens at the end. I have the box checked to "Show this dialog only if there is an error", but it displays each time and there are no errors - all accounts have the green check flag on the left side.

What do I have to do to stop this display and only display when there is an error?

Thanks charliec

  1. Click your heels together

  1. Open your front door and yell, "Intuit Rules"

  2. Click your heels together, again

You'll STILL have that display BUT your neighbours will have a lot more to talk about.

I'm willing to bet you were messing around with the upload account data to Quicken.com setting, right?

According to Intuit, you have two choices: Roll back to an earlier version of your dat file or live with it. People have been complaining about this for years and I can't believe there isn't a way to stop this behavoir.

No I have never done anything with the Quicken.com setting in One Step Update - and in reviewing One Step Update, it is not checked.

Anything else I should do to fix this situation?

The only solution I've ever seen Intuit publish is to roll back to a version of your.dat file that didn't exhibit that behavior and reenter any newer transactions. There is no known way to turn it off.

What has worked for me is:

Set up for uploading to Quicken.com. Choose one account - I actually make a dummy that has no real data. Set up for upload of that account only. Do an update, which should succeed. Now disable upload to quicken.com.

Thanks - I know this is asking a lot! But, could you possibly detail the steps you took to do this? I want to make sure I get it right.

Thanks again for your reply!

I wish I could but it's been a while and I don't want to "play" with it for fear of breaking it.

On my quicken, at the bottom of the screen that opens when you start a one step update is a check box for quicken.com.

You need to check that - and then follow the instructions to select an account for saving. If you don't have a quicken.com account you will need to make one. If you do, you may need to enter the facts.

Then update.

Then open the update window again and uncheck the quicken.com box.

The key.

Before you start, make a backup of your account. If you mess up, just restore the backup!

good luck.

Ok, thanks

When I open One Step Update, at the bottom of the screen, there are 2 items:

- Sync to Outlook

- Investing.Quicken.com (with a comment to the right that says "Select Investing.Quicken.com data to update".

The boxes to the left of one are not checked.

Question: I'm not sure what the Quicken.com account is or how to make one - what type of account did you create. I do have Quicken Bill Pay, but I don't think that is what you are referring to - so, any further insights are appreciated.

sorry - I'm way over my head here.

quicken.com appears to only be shown if you have an "investment" account. if not, then I don't see how sync with quicken.com could be the problem. Unless the investing.quicken.com is what shows if you haven't set the thing up.

By The boxes to the left of one are not checked. do you mean one is checked?

In any case, I'd suspect that one of these sync mechanisms has an error that needs to be cleared by a successful sync.

Neither of the boxes are checked.

Ok, Quicken Master!

I went into One Step Update Settings, elected one of my trading accounts for the Quicken.com update, selected it, ran and update and it appeared to work fine! Went back to One Step Update Settings and unchecked Quicken.com feature. Went back to downloading from other accounts (i.e. credit cards, etc) and the One Step Update Summary is not displaying anymore with no error. Restarted Quicken, went back to Online Center, downloaded from the trading account, and it downloaded a transaction that was there and upon ending, One Step Update Summary did not open. GREAT!

Thanks so much! charliec

Thank you, Marc! That little annoyance has been irritating me for months if not years. Just one less screen I have to look at now!
