Phantom Quotes on Weekends

Does anyone know why I am getting phantom weekend quotes whenever I download quotes on a Monday? And how can I fix it? Also, the Monday quotes are left blank. Thanks,

Hi, Jeff.

Are you sure they are weekend quotes? The market is open all day Monday and if you get quotes at 11 am Eastern time, you'll get prices from the first hour or two of Monday trading.

Another explanation could be that you have stocks traded on foreign exchanges that might be open when the NYSE is not. We have a global marketplace now, you know.

If you need a better answer, please post more details.

Do the phantom quotes all apply to securities held with one financial institution? If so, what financial institution?

The phantom quotes all come from one financial institution, Schwab. The only other institutions I get quotes for are mutual funds which only update after

5:30, but are always on the correct day. Only the Schwab quotes are actively traded stocks (in other words, that trade all day).

The quotes are definitely weekend quotes. I only retreive the quotes well after the market has closed, always later than 4:30 pm. The Monday quotes are given Sunday's date and Monday doesn't get any quotes. All the stocks are traded on NYSE, AMEX, or NASDAQ (no foreign securities). Again, this only happens on Mondays. I'm not sure what other details to add.

Thanks for any help.

If I recall correctly, this is a Schwab problem, and the workaround is to not download from Schwab on Mondays. (Naturally, call Schwab and complain.)

You can test this for yourself - I don't use Schwab. Try doing a Quicken quote download only (no financial institution downloads) after market close on Monday: see if you have Sunday prices. Then do a Schwab only download after market close on Monday (no quotes, no other financial institutions), and see if you then get Sunday quotes.

How do you download quotes only? I don't use One-Step because I don't want historical quotes, but I don't know how to download quotes separately. I have just been manually entering quotes. I'm using Quicken 2004 R5.

Thanks

Hi, Sue.

There are other ways, but perhaps the cleanest is to click Investing on the Menu bar, then Online Activities | Download Quotes.
