How can I get rid of a "place holder" that is in my investment account without also removing shares from my account.
I recommend entering the missing transactions and then deleting the placeholder transactiions.
All of my transactions are correct. I still have a note at the bottom of the list of all transactions:
*Place Holders for missing data are used in these calculations*.I am afraid to delete that message, it might mess up my corrected data.
If all of the transactions are correct, you do not need the placeholders.
To minimize your fears, I always suggest saving a datafile backup before making any significant changes.
Milkyway - Sherlock is correct. First find the existing place holder transaction. Then enter a duplicate transaction dated two or three days earlier. The placeholder transaction will change to a zero amount. You can then safely delete the place holder.
