Print problems in Quicken 2005

I sometimes backup my Quicken 2005 accounts and use them on my office computer. At the office I print to a networked printer and at home a local printer connected to my computer. Since the last time I backed up at the office and restored at home I haven't been able to print from Quicken. I went to printer set up and my home printer is offered as Dell Printer on Ne02, which is my network print queue at work. I've read where you should change the name to something without the 'on' in it but my printer at home is simply named Dell Printer. I can't get Quicken to 'see' my home printer. I have changed names and renamed the .dat file to no avail it continues to list my printer as being on the network. Can anyone help?

Thanks, Ron

Did you check in Control Panel to see if "Dell Printer" is your default Windows printer? And to see if "Dell Printer on Ne02" is listed when it should not be?

My control panel only lists Dell Printer and it is my default printer, but when I go into printer setup in Quicken it lists Dell Printer on Ne02. Dell Printer on Ne02 does not show in the control panel. Thanks.

Look for a file called WPR.DAT in a Quicken folder (it might be in a hidden folder, so make sure your search includes hidden folders). If you find it, delete it and restart Quicken and do the Printer setup again. See if that helps.

My WPR.DAT file is in the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Mike\Application Data\Intuit\Quicken\Config

I tried that and no luck. I removed and re-installed my printer and found that I could print checks, but now I can't print more than seven at a time. I read about this problem somehwere but can't remember the solution. Any ideas?

Thanks, Ron

Some problems with printing in Quicken have been solved by changing the printer name so that it has less than eight characters, no spaces.

The 7-check problem is a known "feature" introduced during an upgrade. Just print your checks in batches.
