Can't change font size on receipts

I am trying to increase the font size on my sales receipts to no avail. They are currently set at 10, and are very hard to read. My printer is the standard EPSON TM88II . I went into "Receipt Formats" and modified the properties to reflect the larger font. When I previewed this format it reflected the font size change. I then saved it over the previous receipt.xml. When I ran a preview print the font size was still at 10. I rebooted the system and the font size remained at 10, even though when I looked at properties in "Receipt Format" it reflected the larger size?? What am I missing here? The printer does print several different sizes ?? The receipt does pull from receipt.xml?

EP,

You need to re-select the receipt template after changing and saving it.

EP,

Manager | Database | Registers | Receipt Format | select the proper format | click on the magnifying glass at the end of the sales line | double click on the changed receipt .xml file | Yes to change all transaction types | OK | OK |

If POS is open, close and restart it.

EP,

If you're using OPOS driver, most changes in the format (like font size, font, color, etc) is not the same as the output of the printer. You can only do this if you're using a windows driver for your printer. The downside is that printing will be a bit slower....just like printing in your laser printer.

tnx.

Hi EP,

I forgot to mention that even if you're using a windows driver, the changes you made (regarding font size and style) may not print out correctly if your printer is a dot-matrix type.

This is more of a printer issue rather than an RMS issue. You may want to check your printer supplier on this.

thanks

EP,

So, why not use the Windows driver within RMS? It does work! We _only_ use Windows driver for the printers we sell, although they are from Star Micronics. About the same price, as fast and has a year longer warranty!

Not sure that I would touch an Epson printer with a ten foot pole though!! Look through this ng at all of the Epson printer _issues_.

Hi EP,

I did mention earlier that you can use windows driver...RMS is not stuck on the OPOS driver. It's a matter of choice but surely either option has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Your issue is more of a printer issue and not RMS issue.

I've done some testing with what I believe is the same configuration as EPGeek:

- Epson TM-T888III (USB)

- Drawer plugged into Epson drawer kick (DK) port

Without OPOS, using Epson Windows driver, print formatting customizations, including font sizes and header/footer graphics, work just fine. (And, contrary to other threads in this forum, print quickly enough for my liking, though somewhat slower than using OPOS.) However, the drawer can't be controlled by RMS w/o OPOS, although it can be controlled by the printer driver: you can configure the printer to open the drawer before or after every print job. This is okay, but there are instances where it would be useful to not open the drawer, such as after credit card transactions, which can be configured in RMS as long as you use OPOS.

With OPOS, the TM-T88III apparently either ignores control codes to set fonts and other features, or OPOS doesn't provide this capability. I must confess I'm not too familiar with the intrinsics of OPOS; if any OPOS authority could explain this conclusively (e.g., is it OPOS or the Epson that's deficient in this area), I'm sure thousands of RMS and/or Epson users would shower you with gratitude.

So I have to agree with Joseph, it's not RMS; it's either OPOS or Epson.
