Q2004 - Bond Redemption problem

How do you enter a bond redemption? The purchase was made under "Bonds Bought". There is no equivalent "Bonds Redeemed" transaction. HELP only talks about US Bonds. If I try to SELL, then Q says there's no equivalent BUY!!!! If I do a Return of Capital I can't then reduce the number of bonds to zero. Can't Remove because there's no Buy. Q ignores an attempt to reduce the number of shares to zero. Surely Intuit has heard of bonds.

A search revealed what I expected. Sure enough Quicken designers and programmers don't know bonds. I think that probably I have to go back to the purchase and record it as a stock purchase. The "Bonds bought" becomes useless.

I have Q2004D. I entered my bonds as Bonds Bought (which has extra entry to handle accrued interest.) The redemption is entered as a Sell.

You must make sure if you have 2 securities with similar spellings that you use the correct one for the sell, else Quicken will tell you there is no equivalent Buy. Try CTRL+Y and look to see if you have 2 or more similar security entries; if so, look at the details of each to see which one was used for the Buy and make sure to use that same one for the Sell.

The correct entry for a bond maturity is a Sell. You must be entering the wrong security name for Quicken to tell you there's no equivalent Buy.

Maybe so. I select the only similar one from the drop down list. Ending the thread here.
