Q2004: How to troubleshoot when transactions not downloaded?

Mar 05, 2007 1 Replies

I am using Quicken 2004, and am using the online features to download transactions from multiple financial institutions. (At least until they cut us off here in another month, grrrrr.)

Downloads from financial institution A work normally.

In the same session, available transactions from financial institution B do not download. There are no errors displayed in the Online Update Summary screen, only the dreaded "No transactions to review." This has been the case since 1/31/2007, making me wonder if something on the server side expired at the end of January.

Is there any troubleshooting techniques that can be done on the client side to rule in or rule out client problems? Are there log files that I can look at?

Any pointers appreciated, S. McCrew

Is this a credit card account?

You can Deactivate the account for "transaction download"; then Activate it again (only "Activate" if it is a One Step Download type account). (This might get you some transactions that were already downloaded. It may be a good idea to backup before this, and restore if you don't like the results.)

Following a download from FI B, open the OFXlog (probably in Word where you can do some minor reformatting to make it easier to read), and look for your transactions.

Help > Product and Customer Support > OFXlog

Then "Save as" if you want to view it in a word processor (and keep from eventually getting overwritten by subsequent downloads).

If you need help deciphering, you can download the OFX specs to a pdf file for free (or possibly ask here); Google for the OFX home page.
