Q2005 - How to lose cash?

Aug 10, 2005 5 Replies

Using Q2005 Premier; How can I adjust the cash balance of an investment account to get rid of a $0.72 balance that I can't reconcile. Any transaction I try requires me to transfer it to another account or a payee but I just want to adjust the amount and vanish the balance.

Not that it makes a difference but I remember doing this in Q2002 but I don't remember how.

Thanks for any help.

The only way to resolve it is to make a withdrawel or deposit.

The fact is that in accounting you cannot just make money go away. It has to be assigned to something.

You can withdrawel or deposit without transferring it to another account. You do however, have to assign it a category. I just had to do this for .80 in my 401k. Crazy eh?

In Q2004 Investing>Investing Activities>Update Cash balance does the job.

Which does "transfer" the adjustment ... to the investment account itself.

While at the same time conveniently computing the adjustment for the corrected cash balance.

Thanks, that worked and it didn't even require a category assignment.
