Q2005 Report Bug-- crashes on me

Anything in the Event Logs??

I was able to duplicate this.

But my limited efforts did not uncover any corruption. What did you do subsequent to the crash that indicated data corruption?

This is still me-- I am posting from work.

John: After the first crash, I did a (normal) validate. It said "There were data losses". When I looked at the validate results, however, it said nothing.

Before each attempt of producing the crash I restored a known good backup. After each reproduction of the crash, I validated and super validated. Only once did it say there were data losses. I tried it about 8 times.

I got data losses after my first attempt too, but none of them appeared even remotely related to the "crash" (they all pertained to investment accounts). And subsequent tests/validations on the same (now validated/corrected) file did not produce any indication of corruption.

My interpretation is that since the data was correctly modified, and Quicken only disappeared when it was attempting to "restore" the report, and Quicken does not have any problem creating or restoring that report when I start Quicken up again ... I think the data is ok. (Of course I can afford to be a bit sanguine; I only did this in a test file).

When you change data that appears in an open report, Quicken seems to regenerate the report when you "restore" it; I think that Quicken was not properly prepared to handle this type of data modification in the report regeneration process.
