Q2007 laser printing does not work

I am going crazy trying to make Q2007 print to my Canon multifunction laser printer (MF5550) Other lasers from HP don't work either. The forums over at quickencommunity have lots of complaints about it. (See below)

When you try and print you get a page with 99.5% white space. There is a very tiny black smudge that is what you printed in .000000001 font size. The preview also shows the microscopic print. That is the best you can get, most times the program just aborts with no error messages. I am updated to the latest revision but so far Intuit has ignored all of the printing issues. Does anyone have a solution? I tried deleting my wpr.dat file but that didn't help.

A couple of threads over the issue (there are many more):

If you read many of those threads you will see that there is a work-around. For me it was downloading the server driver for my Brother 5140. For another Brother user he used the hp400 driver. Does Canon have a server driver? Have you tried the hp400?

My Canon does not have native PCL like the HP printers that were used. If your printer does PCL in software it won't support other drivers.
